Editorial Module
The templates contained within this package are designed to be used and implemented in conjunction with Filemaker Pro 4.0. They were created to streamline the setup and organization of a Visual Effects database system, while continuing to offer powerful tools and links to further upgrades. DatabaseFX is currently offered in modules, allowing the user to select the features they require, and pay only for those templates that are being provided. All of the modules are relational, allowing them to share data and communicate. With each additional module comes another level of power and organization, yet their design allows them to be added or separated at any time, without loss of data.

The layouts provided are intended to be generic templates that will work for the majority of your VFX needs, yet the database is designed with customization in mind. Specialized reports and data entry screens can easily be generated, using the built in tools and features of Filemaker Pro.

Editorial Module
The Editorial Module is the most basic, yet robust of the setups. Its organizational core is based around the individual elements ( i.e. a piece of film, a Visual Effects composite, or data on a storage media) of the Visual Effects production.

The Editorial Module contains generic templates that cover almost all the needs of a Visual Effects editorial house, such as receiving and shipping elements, ordering and processing scans and Filmouts, tracking the archival of data, as well as comments and information regarding screenings and telecine sessions.

Production Module
The next level in organization is contained within the Production Module of DatabaseFX. The powerful tools in the Editorial Module can be combined with the shot level organization of the Production Module, thus providing a more integrated system for tracking Visual Effects elements.

The organizational core of the Production Module is based around the Visual Effects shot. It stores and tracks data that is relevant to a Visual Effects production on a per shot basis. Per shot budget Vs actual hours, storyboards, meeting notes, status reports and shot breakdowns are all organized within this module.
